SIM-less iPhone 4S With A5 Chip July/August; iPhone 5 In Spring 2012?

Apple’s next generation iPhone will have the same factor as iPhone 4, come with an ARM Cortex-A9 processor though they’re not sure if it will be single or dual core and an improved 8-megapixel camera.
According to Macotakara, the fifth generation iPhone will be called “iPhone 4S” and will sport a SIM-less design with 3 to 4 internal antennas and use a Qualcomm chipset that will allow the next iPhone to work on both GSM and CDMA networks.

Macotakara reports:

According to an anonymous source, this reported product by DigiTimes is improved model of iPhone 4 on same form factor, and uses ARM Cortex-A9 chip as CPU, but it is not confirmed whether this model has single CPU or with dual CPU's.

It is widely speculated that the next iPhone will come with Apple's new dual-core A5 system-on-chip, which powers iPad 2.

Last week, France Telecom confirmed that Apple was working on a project dubbed “e-SIM project”, which would allow the iPhone to work without any SIM card. But he indicated that carriers had convinced Apple that it was a bad idea as “the SIM card is a critical piece of the security and authentication process” and were instead working with Apple to introduce a smaller SIM card. So it would be surprising to see Apple introduce a SIM-less iPhone.

So far we’ve heard conflicting reports about next generation iPhone’s form factor. According to some reports, next generation iPhone will be completely redesigned and will look more like iPod Touch 4G rather than iPhone 4. While, some reports claim that fifth generation iPhone will come with improved specifications such as faster processor, 8-megapixel camera etc. just like iPhone 3G and iPhone 3GS, but won’t feature an all-new design and will look like iPhone 4, which matches with this report.

According to the report, iPhone 4S will be released at the end of July or in early August and won't be delayed until September as some reports have indicated. It also claims that the next "major new handset", which will be called iPhone 5 will arrive in the Spring of 2012.
